Our Research Team

Research Area: Crohn's Disease

Lead Researcher: Jesse Schmidt

I'm Jesse! I am a Mechanical Engineer that graduated in 2019 from The College of New Jersey, who also has a love and appreciation for music and the arts.  I currently work for Siemens as a Systems Design Engineer and enjoy playing guitar and spending time with family in my spare time.

Tommy and I were inseparable friends since we first met freshman year in college, and I am looking to do anything I can to help others struggling from HSTCL and Crohn’s disease.

Research Area: Hepatosplenic T-cell Lymphoma

Lead Researcher: Peter Salugao

I am a TCNJ graduate with a BS in Electrical Engineering. While in school, I worked as a Test Engineer for Linearizer Technology, Inc. My senior capstone was focused in designing an embedded flight controller for multi-rotor applications.

From the four years I had known Tom, I've come to see the extent to which he's impacted my life and my happiness and its for this that I am forever grateful and dedicated to his memory. My goal for this research is to see what information is out there that can help me understand more about Tom's condition and extend that information to those it may help.

Research Area: Alternative Global Treatments

Lead Researcher: Alex Walpole

Hi, I'm Alex! I am a Computer Science student at University of Maryland, College Park; graduating in December, 2019. I also work as a Cyber Reseacher for Perspecta Labs DC.   When I'm not studying, I'm spending time with friends or family, ideally at the beach

From the moment we met, Tommy was a close friend and my greatest confidante. I will always cherish the memories we made together and the impact he had on my life. Today, my sense of humor and taste in music are still heavily influenced by Tommy's personality and interests. I am dedicated to conducting research for The Tommy Kid Foundation with the goal of helping others and carrying on my friend's name.
